ABOUT
SILVER PHOENIX STUDIO
I created Silver Phoenix Studio just over 3 years ago. I am a
graphic designer by trade and an insatiable creative at heart.
With over 25 years experience in the world of media, marketing
and design, having the opportunity to channel my creativility into something new was
truly exciting. Once the basics of silversmithing were mastered,
it was a case of 'going with the flow' and allowing a newly
learned skill to evolve. I am still a graphic designer and
indulging my passion for making jewellery alongside my design
work makes a great combination.

OUT OF THE FIRE
Silver is one of most amazing
elements to work with and reflects the beauty of all it touches.
I am in awe every time I make a piece of jewellery, as each
seems to develop its own character as it is made. No mass
produced castings or designs, no two pieces the same and no
compromise. This is artisan jewellery, made by hand and with
passion.
NATURE'S WONDER
Pure silver is in fact rare - Silver
is present as only about five parts in a million of the earth's
crust. It is an element - Ag (Argentum) and cannot be reproduced
synthetically. Discovered after gold and copper around 4000BC it
has become an essential part of our lives today. Industry relies
on the amazing properties of silver, especially in the world of
electronics. It is also used in medicine and hundreds of other
applications. Silver has a real value as a precious metal, as
currency and bullion. |

PURITY
MATTERS
There are countless pieces of silver
jewellery on the market. Many are stamped with 925 which could
be silver but they may be an alloy. Any jeweller can buy a 925
stamp off the shelf but real silver over 7.76 grams has to be
legally hallmarked by one of the four British Assay Offices to
be sold as silver. No jeweller in the UK can stamp their own
pieces with an official Assay hallmark as they have to be sent
away, tested and verified. That is why British silver is sought
after all over the world. We are keeping our standards high so
please take when care buying any jewellery, wherever it comes
from.
The purity of silver is measured by
parts per thousand. Please see chart for details.
My pieces are not hallmarked. If my work is over 7.76 grams
(excluding set stones) then I will apply to the Assay Office for
a unique hallmark, if you require one. There is an extra charge
for this service and I will make sure all pieces carry weight
details on this site.
If you would like to buy any of my
pieces then please contact me directly and I will make sure you
have all the information you need for your peace of mind. If a
piece is cheap, ask yourself why and remember, pure precious
metals have real value.
